SPYAIR - My World

Feeling down lately. I'm having that phase where I seem to fail at everything i do. So as I was watching Gundam Age, this song really resonated with me.
Asemu Asuno, pilot of the Gundam and yet nothing seems to go well for him. The expectations of his father who is a big shot commander and war hero in the army. The strictness he treats Asemu with irregardless of their blood relation. The expectations placed upon Asemu from everyone around to become a great pilot like his father. In a twist of fate, having to fight his best friend in a war. Sometimes hurting a girl he likes due to his incompetence and hesitance.

Leaning on the wall through the night, I was thinking about myself
Is the path I chose alright? I can't seem to convince myself anymore

supercell - 告白 Kokuhaku

The second ending song for Guilty Crown. 告白 read as kokuhaku, translates to confession (of love). A pretty cheerful song i should say, so much so that sometimes after a sad episode it feels out of place. I think the first stanza is something to look out for.
 If you sacrificed yourself to save me, how should I think when I am all alone?
The rest of the lyrics depict this very everyday situation between a boy and a girl. A "what if?" situation for Inori and Shu if they were just normal students in our world.

EGOIST - The Everlasting Guilty Crown

The second opening to Guilty Crown. Compared to My Dearest, this song is more intense as the anime heads towards its climax in its second season. I feel that Koeda now has a better mastery over her voice and I am starting to enjoy her singing more.
The lyrics this time touches on conflicts again. With reference to Guilty Crown, in a collapsing world where everything is grim, don't lose sight of important things. We all have the strength to continue living.
To sum it up, it's a song by Inori for Shu in season 2.

The GazettE - 紅蓮 Guren

An older song from The GazettE. This song, Guren, touches upon the emotions behind a miscarriage. It is probably very hard to tell from watching the PV (promotional video) of this song. However, after figuring out some of the symbolism used in the PV, it really grabbed me.
Red = Life  and  White = Death.
These are the simple rules behind the PV. The innocent child slowly painting her own death without knowing what is happening. The word 紅蓮 can refer to the color crimson or to the crimson lotus flower. A similar example in English will be the word "orange" which can refer to the color or the fruit.
I realized the songs I have translated so far aren't exactly the happy kind but I guess sadness and anger are stronger emotions that left a greater impact on me. I feel more compelled to translate a song when the lyrics resonate with me. Not saying that a miscarriage recently happened near me but rather I can empathize with this beautifully tragic imaginary scenario.

The GazettE - PLEDGE

This year is The GazettE's 10th year anniversary. I have been a fan of them for quite a while now. Buying numerous CDs and live DVDs because I couldn't make it to their concerts.
The GazettE is a visual kei band who loves experimenting with new sounds and refining them with their own touch. They create music from various genres and sometimes even mixing them. As time goes by, they continue to evolve their sound but it is always unmistakeably them.
This song, PLEDGE, is a ballad by them. The theme being "An eternal vow". Go ahead and drown in the emotional intensity of this love song.
Happy anniversary and continue to rock!

UVERworld - MONDO PIECE

I was watching UVERworld's 2010 last tour final when Takuya∞ (Uverworld's vocalist) said something that struck me. He said he read an interview of himself a few years back.
Back then, he said he would quit music when he couldn't get along with his band mates anymore. He would quit music when he couldn't make music that was better than what he was making at that time. He thought he sounded cool but looking back at it, he said "It was very selfish of me. Where did the feelings of the staff and the fans go to?"
Takuya∞ started writing lyrics when he was 20 years old. He said to everyone at the concert venue that it is not too late to start what you want to do even at that age. Life goes past in a flash, soon you will be in your 20s, 30s, even 40s. Shout out your dream, if you cant even do that much then it will never come true. Fight for your dreams and it will come true.
This song, MONDO PIECE was played at the ending credits roll along with a photo montage of the band, their staff and fans.

This is a song written by the fictional character Masami Iwasawa and performed by the fictional band Girls Dead Monster in the anime Angel Beats. There are two versions of this song sung by the characters Masami and Yui respectively. Of course Yui's singing voice is provided by LiSA.
The fictional character Masami Iwasawa lived a tragic life with her parents always fighting at home and even resorting to violence sometimes. She escapes into the world of music and well I won't spoiler the people who haven't watched Angel Beats yet.
This is a really sad song with lyrics describing how Masami found the strength to live in this cruel and ugly world.
